Mazie Mae Sigmon-Palmer, 25 years old at the time of her disappearance, was last seen in Charleston, West Virginia, on the night of July 14, 1979. Mazie had recently separated from her husband and was staying with relatives. On the evening she vanished, Mazie went out on a date with 18-year-old John Eric "Jay" Farley. They were seen at a local nightclub called Roarin' 20s and later moved on to King’s Inn nightclub on Second Avenue.
Around 1:00 a.m. on July 15, Mazie was seen entering the King’s Inn with Jay. Neither of them was seen again after that, and Mazie’s sudden disappearance left investigators puzzled. Her belongings, including her clothes, money, and identification, were found at the home she was staying in, leading authorities to believe that she didn’t leave on her own accord.
In 1984, the remains of Jay Farley were discovered in Fayette County, approximately 30 miles from Charleston, but there was no sign of Mazie. Despite numerous investigations, no new leads have been found, and Mazie’s case remains unsolved.
