Who we are
WV Missing Persons Project is a grassroots initiative dedicated to telling the stories of the 142 people who remain missing across our state. We are a couple who writes, researches, and advocates — driven by compassion, truth, and a shared belief that every person deserves to be remembered, and every family deserves answers.
This project began as a personal journey, sparked by a single case and a growing realization: too many lives have disappeared into silence. Many of West Virginia’s missing were never widely reported, and in some cases, their files have been lost, abandoned, or forgotten. We aim to change that.
Through archival research, Freedom of Information Act requests, and direct conversations with loved ones, we are compiling a book and research that sheds light on the people behind the statistics. We focus especially on the overlooked — women, children, victims of domestic violence, and those failed by the system.
This is more than a catalog of missing persons. It’s a space for memory, a call for accountability, and a quiet but persistent reminder: these lives still matter.

We know the journey of searching, remembering, and hoping never truly ends. If you are a family member, a friend, or someone whose heart has been touched by one of these stories, we welcome you to leave a message to be posted on the blog page. If you would like to reach out privately or continue the conversation, we are here for you.
You are not alone in this. Their stories continue, and so does the love that surrounds them.
