Behind the Scenes of the Project
On March 29, 2025, a FOIA request was submitted by email in hopes of gathering any available records related to Melody Anderson’s disappearance. When no response came, a follow-up email was sent on April 15.
Shortly after, we received a reply from the Deputy Sheriff. He stated that the records had been purged, before his tenure, and that no case files could be located.
It’s hard to put into words how difficult that is to take in. If there are no records, no files, no paper trail, how are we looking for her? What is being done?
With that in mind, we’ve reached out to NAMUS for assistance in reviewing and strengthening Melody’s case file. The absence of documentation won’t stop the effort. But it does remind us of how easily someone can slip through the cracks and how important it is to keep asking for more.
