Brenda Gail Lambert was 22 years old when she disappeared from her home in Bluewell, West Virginia, on July 26, 1992. That evening, she had hosted a birthday party for her young son, and everything seemed normal until she failed to make contact with her family the next day. When relatives checked on her, they found her car parked outside and her personal belongings, including her purse and keys, still inside the home. Brenda was nowhere to be found.
Investigators quickly determined that Brenda's disappearance was suspicious. She had recently filed, and later tried to withdraw, a domestic violence complaint against her husband, Raymond Lambert. She had also scheduled a meeting with a lawyer to discuss filing for divorce, but she never made it to the appointment.
The last time Brenda was seen was sometime around 9:00 p.m. on the night of the party. According to her husband, he left the home with their children that evening and returned the next afternoon to find Brenda missing. Within days of her disappearance, a woman related to Raymond moved into the home, and shortly after, she and Raymond married. This development left Brenda's family with even more unanswered questions.
In January 1993, about five months after Brenda vanished, her friend Mark Anthony Cook also went missing under suspicious circumstances. Some believe the two cases may be connected, but no direct link has ever been confirmed.
Brenda was legally declared deceased in 2022, but her case remains unsolved. Her family, especially her sister Christy, continues to advocate for answers and justice. After all these years, they remain determined to uncover the truth.

Behind the Scenes of the Project
Brenda Gail Lambert’s case means a great deal to me, it’s one of the stories that really touched me, and it continues to stay close to my heart. Because of that, I’ve remained committed to doing everything I can to keep her name visible and her story heard.
On March 16, 2025, I submitted a FOIA request through the Mercer County website, hoping to access records that could shed more light on her disappearance. When no response came, I followed up with a phone call on April 7 and left a voicemail.
On April 10, I had the pleasure of talking to Brenda’s family. The heartbreak and longing runs deep and their love for Brenda is so clear, even to strangers. Their willingness to talk and share more about Brenda’s life was amazing to me but also bittersweet because of the reason we were speaking to begin with.
Still seeking records, I placed another follow-up call to the Mercer County office on April 16 and again left a voicemail. With no response, I mailed a formal follow-up letter on April 28.
Brenda’s case feels close, like the truth is just beneath the surface, waiting to be uncovered.
