Luke David Stout was last seen on July 18, 2012, in Buckhannon, West Virginia. That afternoon, between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m., he left his family's home on Hickory Flat Road, carrying a green bicycle frame. He had arranged to meet someone at the end of the driveway for assistance in repairing the bike. Luke told his mother and brother that he loved them and would return later that day. He was 24 years old at the time and has not been seen or heard from since.

Luke was known for his dedication to his family, particularly his terminally ill mother, whom he cared for at home. He was a skilled carpenter and a talented artist. His sudden disappearance was out of character, and his family believes he would not have left without contacting them.

Prior to his disappearance, Luke reportedly told others that he had been threatened by an individual named Rodolfo "Chino" Correa, who allegedly held a gun to Luke's forehead. Luke attempted to report this incident to the police but was turned away. Correa was later convicted in an unrelated murder case involving another individual who had been romantically involved with Correa's wife. Although there were rumors of a connection between Luke and Correa's wife, no official link has been established between Correa and Luke's disappearance.

In December 2022, authorities conducted a three-day excavation in Ellamore, West Virginia, based on new information related to Luke's case. The search did not yield any new evidence, and the case remains open.
