William Jeffrey Crawford, known as "Jeff," vanished on June 16, 2011, from Southside in Mason County, West Virginia. That night, the trailer he shared with his wife, Ashley Baird Crawford, was destroyed by a suspicious fire. Both Jeff and Ashley, along with her cousin Tonda Nelson, were reported missing shortly afterward.
Six weeks later, the bodies of Ashley and Tonda were discovered in a shallow grave off Duncan Creek Road. Both women had died from blunt force trauma to the head. Jeff's whereabouts remain unknown.
In December 2011, the West Virginia State Police issued an arrest warrant for Jeff, charging him with the murders of Ashley and Tonda. This decision was based on a witness account placing him at the scene of the crime. Despite the warrant, Jeff's family maintains his innocence and believes he may have been a victim as well.
Jeff's silver 2000 Ford Mustang was later found and impounded by authorities. A man named Marty Rogers was found driving the vehicle and admitted to forging the title.
