While we were in the process of building this website to honor West Virginia’s missing, we heard the bittersweet news that Derick Quade McCain has been found and is finally coming home.
After five long years of searching, Derick’s family now has the answer they prayed for, though it comes with heavy hearts. His journey reminds us that hope is powerful, even after all this time.

Derick Quade McCain, also known by the nickname "Ghost," was last seen in Martinsburg, West Virginia, around late July or early August 2020. At the time, he was 32 years old. Derick was known to stay in close contact with his family, especially around his birthday on August 14. When he failed to reach out on that day, his loved ones grew concerned, suspecting that something was wrong.
