Annita Maria Price, a 27-year-old woman, was last seen in Moundsville, West Virginia, on May 30, 1974. She was employed as a waitress at The Flamingo Club in Benwood, WV, and was known to have lived in Moundsville at the time of her disappearance. Her case remains unsolved, and she has been missing for over five decades.
At approximately 8:45 p.m. on May 30, 1974, Annita left her apartment on 4th Street in Moundsville to go to work at The Flamingo Club in Benwood. She was driving a green, early 1970s model AMC Gremlin, which belonged to her boyfriend. She never arrived at work and has not been seen or heard from since.
The vehicle was found the next morning along State Route 2 at 12th Street in McMechen, West Virginia, just north of Moundsville. Inside the car, her purse, wallet, and makeup were found, but there was no sign of Annita.
Foul play is suspected in Annita's disappearance. At the time, she was going through a contentious divorce and custody battle for her two children. Her ex-husband was investigated thoroughly, but no evidence linked him to her disappearance. An anonymous informant later told police that Annita was shot to death with a small-caliber handgun and buried beneath a telephone pole, but this information has not been confirmed.
