Two-year-old Hevin Dakota Jenkins was last seen on December 26, 2005, while in the care of relatives in Hurricane, West Virginia. Hevin, who was autistic and nonverbal, faced unique challenges that made him even more vulnerable. After he was reported missing, authorities launched an urgent search, but no trace of Hevin was found.
Investigators later learned that Hevin had likely lost his life at the hands of those entrusted with his care. His aunt pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, and her boyfriend was convicted as an accessory. It is believed Hevin was drowned and that his remains were placed in the Ohio River. Despite these confessions, Hevin’s body has never been recovered. His story remains a devastating reminder of a life stolen far too soon, and his case is still open.
